Plastic surgery is an art form. The consultation provides complete information about the procedure of interest. First, a procedure specific videotape, produced by the American Society of Plastic Surgeons, is viewed.

Next, Dr. Callegari conducts a thorough examination and answers questions concerning the expected results and potential challenges associated with the surgery. A brochure highlighting the information in the videotapes is provided. Photographs of other patients who have elected to have similar cosmetic surgery are shown.

Finally, a tour of the office completes the consultation, if desired.

The important features of the consultation are:

  • diagnosis (what is the problem?)
  • treatment alternatives
  • risks and complications of each alternative
  • expected results of treatment
  • required aftercare and expected recovery

Dr. Callegari is a member of American Society of Plastic Surgeons, and the American Medical Association. He is also a member of the American Association for Hand Surgery. He adheres to the recommendations for patient selection and treatment supported by these organizations.
