| The purpose of photography is to record your appearance prior to and after your intervention. It never ceases to amaze us how quickly patients forget how they used to look prior to surgery! Your mind will quickly incorporate your new body image. When reviewing your pre-operative photographs, you will have difficulty remembering what you looked like before surgery. Women who have had breast implants, for example, do not remember what their breasts looked like before surgery. It feels to them as though their new breasts had always been present. For some patients, reviewing their old photographs can be dramatic, because it helps to recall why they went to surgery in the first place. Clinical photography is an important part of your permanent medical record, and as such it will be kept confidential and will not be released without your written consent. |
